Valletta, Malta sunset.

Hi,

For those who don’t know me my name is Ralph.

I have been wandering our planet since I was 21, pausing my travels in one country or another for a few years.

Currently, I am happily roosting on the tiny but exotic island in the Mediterranean Sea called Malta. Life is good here…hot sun and the sea, nice people who speak English, great food, low cost of living, and very little crime.

Living on the Mediterranean island of Malta sounds like a dream come true for many! Here’s why it’s such an attractive destination:

🌞 Sun-Soaked Lifestyle

Malta boasts over 300 days of sunshine annually, making it a paradise for those who love warm weather and outdoor living.

🌍 English-Speaking Culture

English is one of Malta’s official languages (alongside Maltese), so it’s incredibly convenient for English speakers to live, work, and integrate into the community without a language barrier.

🏖️ Stunning Beaches and Scenery

From the turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon to the golden sands of Għajn Tuffieħa, Malta offers breathtaking landscapes and plenty of spots for swimming, snorkeling, and diving.

🏛️ Rich History and Culture

Malta is steeped in history, with UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Valletta and the ancient temples of Ħaġar Qim. The island’s mix of Mediterranean and British influences adds depth to its culture.

🛳️ Great Location

Located at the crossroads of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, Malta is an excellent hub for travel. Its international airport connects to many destinations.

💼 Expat-Friendly

Malta is a popular choice for expats due to its high quality of life, English-speaking environment, and vibrant social scene. Plus, there are numerous incentives for foreign workers and retirees.

🍽️ Delicious Cuisine

The food is a delightful blend of Mediterranean flavors with Italian, Arabic, and British influences. Think fresh seafood, hearty stews, and mouthwatering pastizzi (flaky pastries).

💡 Tips for Moving to Malta:

  • Accommodation: Housing can be pricey in hotspots like Sliema or St. Julian's, but more affordable options are available in quieter towns.

  • Health: Malta has excellent healthcare facilities, with both public and private options.

  • Visas: EU citizens can move freely, while others may need a residence permit.

  • Cost of Living: While some aspects, like dining out, are affordable, utilities and rent can be higher than average.
